Theresa Elizabeth Pittenger

Theresa Elizabeth Pittenger (Landinger) of Hickory, NC, formerly of Arlington Heights, IL and Beckley, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday January 17, 2026 surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born on June 6, 1939 in Landing Germany to Joseph and Anna Maria Landinger. Throughout her life she was known for her kindness, devotion to God, and family.

She dedicated all her life to raising her family and found great joy in serving others. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her love will continue to live on thru those she touched.

She is survived by spouse Alvin Bradley Pittenger of 69 years. Children Jerome (Colleen) Pittenger of Illinois, Joseph (Robin) Pittenger of Illinois, Lisa (Mark) Gunther of West Virginia, Lance (Loree) Pittenger of North Carolina, Maria (Jesse) Tilghman of North Carolina, William “Bill” Pittenger and Crystal of West Virginia. Brothers and sisters Joseph Landinger of Montana, Maria Burks of Georgia, Hildegard Viktora of North Carolina and Barbara Wimmer of Germany. 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Arthur Dale Pittenger, brothers Alfonse and Alois Landinger.

A celebration of life will be a future date.
