It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Trent Alexander Barnes on June 20, 2026, at the age of 38. Trent was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, brother, and loyal friend whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
There are nice people, and there are kind people. Trent was kind.
Known for his contagious laugh, strong work ethic, and genuine heart, Trent lived life with honesty and authenticity. What you saw was what you got—accepting of everyone, quick to offer help, and always willing to lend a hand. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable way of making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for.
Above all else, Trent loved his family. He was a devoted husband, protector, and provider whose greatest joy was the life he built with his wife, Julie. She was his best friend, confidant, and partner in every adventure. Together, they shared a love filled with laughter, unwavering support, and the kind of playful banter that became a hallmark of their relationship.
Trent's daughters, Riley and Chloe, were the center of his world. He treasured every opportunity to teach them life's lessons—whether saying nightly prayers, cooking breakfast together, washing cars, or demonstrating the value of hard work. The love he shared with his girls was deep, unconditional, and evident to everyone who knew their family.
A skilled diesel mechanic, welder, and entrepreneur, Trent built JCR Equipment through determination, grit, and the trust he earned from those around him. He took pride in working with his hands and enjoyed fixing, building, and helping others. Outside of work, he loved Jeeps and trucks, camping, boating, traveling with his family, cooking breakfast and steak, riding side-by-sides and golf carts, wearing cowboy boots, and spending time outdoors.
Trent's life was firmly rooted in faith. Baptized at the age of nine, he was a faithful Christian and devoted member of Grace Covenant Church and later Soma Church. He sought to live out his faith through both word and action, serving others with humility and compassion. Whether helping a friend, supporting his family, or volunteering in Hurricane Helene relief efforts, Trent could always be counted on to show up when he was needed most. His generous spirit and quiet acts of kindness touched countless lives.
To know Trent was to experience unconditional love. His loss leaves a tremendous void, but his legacy lives on through the family he adored, the values he instilled, and the many lives he influenced through his example.
Trent was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John "Wayne" Mabrey; his paternal grandfather, James Franklin Barnes; and his uncle, David Wayne Mabrey.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Barnes, and their daughters, Riley and Chloe Barnes; his mother, Tammy Mabrey Burns and husband Duke Burns; his father, James Richard "Rick" Barnes; his maternal grandmother, Linda Page Mabrey; his paternal grandmother, Thelma Jean Barnes; and his aunt, Connie Barnes.
He is also survived by his siblings, David Allen Barnes (Holly Walker) and Paige Barnes Grillo (Jerry Grillo); his step-siblings, Brent Burns (Taylor Rockett), Travis Burns (Nicole Burns), and Crystal Blankenship (Chad Blankenship); his nieces and nephews, Landry Barnes, Lennox Barnes, Kacelyn Grillo, Georgia Barnes, and Kimber Grillo; and his step-nieces and step-nephews, Caleb Burns, Laken Blankenship, Lily Burns, and Zaylee Blankenship. He is further survived by his parents-in-law, Bill and Charlotte Becker, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life well lived—one marked by faith, hard work, generosity, adventure, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Trent will be missed beyond words, remembered with gratitude, and loved forever.
