Virginia Kelso

Virginia Ruth Commons Kelso, 93, of Hickory, NC, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House. She was born June 20, 1929 in Meyersdale, PA, daughter of the late Charles William Commons and Mildred Crossland Commons.
Mrs. Kelso aspired to be a dress designer and attended school in pursuit of her love of textiles and fashion. She worked as a district manager for a textile retailer and started her own business, Cuddlecrafts, where she sold her fabric creations. Additionally, Virginia was a homemaker and mother, much loved and admired by all who knew her.
Mrs. Kelso was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 58 years, David Rupert Kelso, as well as two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra L. Sunkin of Wake Forest, NC, and Joyce A. Murray, of Cary, NC; and son, Timothy O. Kelso, of Conover, NC; five grandchildren, Joshua Murray, Jessica Carr, Benjamin Murray, Emily Sunkin and Marianne Kelso; six great grandchildren, Wyatt Murray, Emma Carr, Charlotte Murray, Chloe Murray, Maddie Carr, and Connor Murray.
A private burial will be held in Greene County, Pennsylvania in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1225 29th Ave. NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
